Signing a broadband plan, keeping the free ISP router in the DB cabinet, and hoping for the best. BTO network questions
When during my BTO renovation should the network be set up?
Right after painting and before carpentry closes things in. If you're adding LAN points, plan them at the electrical stage with your ID. Not renovating heavily? We can install any time after key collection — it's a clean 2–4 hour job.
Should I add extra LAN points during renovation?
If you're renovating anyway, yes: one point per TV, one per work desk, and points where access points will live. Wired is always better than wireless for fixed devices. Send us your floor plan and we'll mark exactly where points should go — free.
My BTO router is inside the DB cabinet. Do I need to move it?
The ONT stays in the DB cabinet, but the WiFi shouldn't come from there. We place wired access points in the living areas and bedrooms — the cabinet stops mattering.
Which broadband plan should I sign up for?
Any provider works with our setup. For most families a 1–2Gbps plan is plenty; go multi-gig only if you regularly move huge files. Our hardware supports up to 2.5Gbps, so it won't be the bottleneck either way.
Can my whole BTO block get a group discount?
